Having a heck of a time soldering jump rings to the top of a bezel tape and backed type setting.

The only bails within Rio require soldering a small bail to the piece and then somehow getting bails with loops like shown below secured to to the bail that is soldered to the setting.

Could solder the loop that is attached to the bails below right to the back of a backed setting. Seems just a bit tacky though.

Does anyone know of a place to purchase nice bails that have a flat tab in place of these loops. Would be kind of nice to solder a flat tab to the backing. Lots easier too..

Would it work to use patterned wire to make "9" shaped loop, and solder the bottom of the 9 to the back of your pendant?  The end of the wire might need to be cut at an angle so that it wouldn't have an abrupt edge under the pendant.
Some of the patterned wire styles have a similar look to the floral and scrollwork bails.

Hi Polly...

That is a good idea... Am sort of partial to the flow of the Rio type bails.. Ya know how they are thinner at the base and wider up top ?

I just don't know...... Trying to make the whole bail and point of solder as nice looking as possible..

Thanks  smile

Can you post one of the pendants, or a link to it?  Equal parts because I think it would be helpful in finding a product that would match it, and because I'm dying of curiousity =).

Polly, they would be for straight forward bezel tape and full backed type pendants

Like the one below.

Since I was here last someone did point me to some Aanraku type bails. That was the only site I found them in solid sterling silver. Every other site I found these at were silver plated.  I think these will do the trick !

Although some members from my forum are giving me a hard time.. They say I should try to push myself a bit more and create my own stylish and more unique kind of bails..  Oo

We do have the sterling Aanraku bails, too, as well as a simpler "tube-top" bail in sterling. I haven't yet seen a bail like these, that has a fancier top.

Now that I look again at our stock though - we've added some with a nice hammered texture. Here is our whole line of sterling bails with a flat tab for gluing or soldering.
What you're looking for, might not exist (yet). I'll keep an eye out for it though!

What about soldering a little sterling tab like these onto the back and then hanging this from your classic bail?  That would give you the same effect, but with a few extra components.

I believe that our 41-895-01-AP is the closest we can come to matching this description.
The manufacturer of this item only casts goods from lead free pewter and not Sterling Silver.
I have checked several of our Sterling vendors and have found no S/S bails that are similar to this style.
This may be an item we would want to consider having specifically manufactured for us.
I will update the forum with any further developments.
Thanks.
