I am looking for colored ball chain like the kind shown here:

http://www.craftzombie.com/images/crafts/ballchain.jpg

I have seen it on Etsy, but I'm looking for another source where I can buy larger quantities at a cheaper price. I have Googled my heart out and came up empty. I hate when this happens! I have sent this request to R&T through the product request page and am hoping my prayers will be answered someday. Until then, I was wondering if anyone else knew where to find colored ball chain that won't flake off (electroplated??).

A quick Google search turned up this as the first result:

Hi craftzombie, I'm sure virtuallori missed part of the original message.  It may not help things that I shortened your request to something like "Sources for colored ball chain?" when I put it up on Twitter this morning -- So I'll take responsibility if virtuallori came in here from Twitter.

Here's hoping someone will have a new lead for you...

You did not specify exact colors; you just said "colored ball chain." And I meant "quick" as in I didn't spend a lot of time on it personally, not that anyone should be able to find it. I do a lot of searches for other people who can't find what they need, and I'm generally pretty successful. (That's how I found R&T in the first place, looking for a very specific kind of neck wire a few years back.) There was absolutely no disparagement of your ability there, and I'm sorry you took it that way.

I've seen similar colors at Pat Catan's (a local craft chain) in the past, but they don't do Internet sales. They are related to Darice, which is a manufacturer of craft supplies. They sell wholesale only, but you might be able to establish an account with them if you're moving enough quantity. These colors come in assortments only:

Metalliferous also has ball chain (in the base metal -> aluminum section of their catalog), but the colors seem to be more intense than the picture you linked to, although a couple are close.

We do have some sources to special-order colored ball chain from, but we're not enthusiastic about the quality of any that we've seen.
We've tested samples from a variety of sources of colored ball chain in the last 2 years, and none of their finishes (whether anodized or lacquer) have been very durable.  The lacquer finishes wear off quickly (these might be the styles you found that flaked), and the anodized aluminum samples scratch easily. Everything we've seen is fun and colorful for only a very brief time.

I can assume the quality of these Darice items are very poor based on other items I have seen from them. But we could special order this for you if you were ever interested.

I'm looking for a cheap, cheap gold colored ball chain necklace. The same style as those given away as party favors with dog tags, just gold colored...any ideas where to buy one online? Thanks!
