Safety in these regards is related to usage. I suspect that both types you have described would be allowed for plumbing applications on pipes that carry your drinking water.  Is that safe?  There are some folks who think not.  For light wear applications on non-mucous skin areas - probably this stuff is fine.  I would not use it for piercing types of jewelry.

hey all

Ok i have finally bought my soft solder...and i just found out that it contains 99.5% tin, 0.5% copper, and the remainder is residual metals. Is that ok??? safety wise??

Or...should i get the other type that contains 96.5% tin, 3.5% silver, and the remainder is residual metals???

Which type do you think is best, safest etc etc??

thanks!

i guess the solder i have bought will be ok, its basically only being used for closing up jump rings and that. It definatley wont be used for piercings. Thankyou again, i think im just gonna use it.
