Yes, there are some better solders to use, and also something to clean the silver with first.

I have moved your posting and related postings into a new "Soldering and Drilling" forum to make these kinds of Questions and Answers easier to find.

I hope the other postings now on this page answer your questions, but if not, please ask more!

Stainless isn't always easy to solder - by any method. Some folks use a small spot welder (brand name "Sparkie" among others) to tack a small finding to a stainless piece.  It actually heats it up so much it fuses the 2 pieces together.

Let us know how it works out.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a glue, adhesive or other way of getting sterling silver to stick together?  The jewelry that I make is with sterling silver closing pins (used on parachute rigs) and I have an idea that would require me to bond them together in a design.  My husband and I tried using a little pen solder and solder bought in the plumbing section at Walmart, but it chips right off the silver..it just won't 'stick' to it well.

Is there perhaps a better way?

Thanks!!

Pam

Thank you so much!  I actually discovered that it's stainless steel that the pins are made out of and then the jumprings that I need to do, but this should help!  Now I just have to learn how to solder well ;)
