Hey guys, I've been looking for over-sized kidney ear wires like your surgical steel kidney wires except I'm wishing you had a) finishes like antique brass and gunmetal and/or b) sterling silver.

Oddly, I can find lots of sources for these overseas (like ebay uk and ca) but few here in the States.  What's up with that??

We used to have an oversized kidney wire in sterling. I'll see if I can track those down. With the resurgence in simple, sleek earrings, those are likely to be popular again.

Hi Luann,

Our old sterling jumbo kidney wire was #34-572. In appearance, it was virtually identical to <a href="http://shop.rings-things.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=12132" target="_blank">this plated extra large kidney wire.

The best, quickest way to get a price quote on these would be if you could fill out this <a href="http://www.rings-things.com/SECURE/SpecialOrder.html" target="_blank">special-order form.

Form is filled out and en route.  In a perfect world, you'd have these in sterling silver AND antique brass.  I don't like using plate anymore, too many issues.  Thanks Polly!! '<img'>

I don't remember the giant kidney wire in sterling and I don't remember if anyone reported problems with it. I'd fear, however, that it would be easy to deform since sterling is so soft compared to surgical steel and brass. It is wire formed instead of cast or soldered so it could be made from hard temper sterling wire.

I was surprised to look at sales of the giant one in stainless and see that it is a much better seller today than I'd expect. Another good reason to consider it in Sterling.

It's just me, your "finger on the trends' pulse" customer, Luann.  :^)
Seriously, I see them all over Etsy shops & they look wonderful.  Funny, I thought they looked stupid five years ago....
Let me know when you get some, and hold on to those white "snake" trade beads for me!  (Did you ever find those other colors?)

I'd also like to see oversize wires, esp. in gold-fill as opposed to the gold plate.

thx!

Yay -- this is exactly what I came here looking for!  I LOVE this style and was hoping to find them in gold...

ALSO, can you provide the dimension of the jumbo kidney wires?  I'm looking at the surgical steel -- never used them before, but I have heard great things about them.

??

THANKS!

The #34-172 Jumbo Kidney Wire is approx. 48x18mm (or approx. 2 x 3/4"), and the #34-171 Large Kidney wire is approx. 30x12mm (1-1/4 x 1/2").

We don't have large kidney wires in GF yet, but we do have a "Horse shoe" French hook ear wire variation in GF now, in 2 sizes (2 are textured, one is smooth).

This week I received several samples of large and extra large kidney wires from my source in China.  At our next product development meeting I will add this topic to our agenda.

Hi Luann,

Are you still interested in those jumbo kidney wires in antique finishes? We now have some in stock, in Antiqued Brass Plated, Gunmetal and basic finishes. The new colors are in 25mm, 37mm, and 47mm sizes.  (The traditional size is approx. 14mm.)
I think we'll have some in a few weeks, in gold-filled, too.
