We have a spider-web design with some beads on it, but that's probably not what you're looking for:  http://www.rings-things.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10003/spider_charm_web.jpg

When I Google, I find some beaded spider patterns, but I didn't see any 3-D patterns.

How big a spider do you want to make?

Thanks for the reply Polly.  The spiders would be about 4 inches diameter.  Found a couple of Christmas spider kits, so may get one and go from there.

Another question (as I build an image of this spider in my mind) -- Do you have any preference about bead types and beading methods?
Do you want to stick with -- or avoid -- seed-beaded sculpture, or would you prefer larger beads?
If seed beads are your style, I can track down a book that would have good general instructions that you could fairly easily expand into a spider, probably with gourd-stitch legs.
If larger beads are your style, then the Christmas kit is probably the way to go.  Or you might use ColourCraft wire for the leg shapes (with our without beads on them), and maybe a small pincushion (or stuff a tiny flocked bag) for the base of the body, and then bead onto the pincushion or stuffed bag.

Thanks for the reply Polly.  Actually, I was planning on using Swarovski crystals (large rounds, ovals for body, head) and other glass (small tubes) as joints on the legs.  I was not thinking of using seed beads as a sculpture.  Hope this makes sense!

I asked Rings & Things' example jewelry team and they must have tried some search terms that I didn't try.

Here is a great little spider:

And another similar one:

They are a little smaller than what you were looking for, but offer a great starting place!

Thanks so much Polly!  Love the instructions that come with the first one--

I took so long to reply because we just got back from a camping trip and did not have internet access.  I really appreciate your effort in finding this! ':notworthy:'

I know this is a few years later, but I just ran across this really cute seed bead and bugle bead spider.  It's not a pattern -- it's a finished spider for sale, but very cute.

And a fantastically creepy beaded spider ring in an Australian FB photo:

I still don't have a link to any instructions, but this is a nice close-up picture for inspiration.

More spiders -- here is a brief tutorial for a nice creepy looking brown spider, as well as cute seed bead frogs and a penguin. The patterns are fairly simple but nice, using seed beads and wire.

And here is a spider tutorial using 2 Swarovski beads (or any faceted 8mm and 12mm round bead) and a few seed beads. I don't think I posted it yet.

I can't resist ... every time I see a decent beaded spider pattern, I remember this post and add to it.
