I have been commissioned to make a Swarovski crystal bridal bouquet (first one!). Does anyone know how to make the stems or what they are actually made of. I have seen several on line, but can't figure out what to use for the stems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My niece made these for a friend in Mexico. I've called to ask, and I'll post when she gets back to me.

It seems to me these are long head pins, hat pins OR color craft wire with some sort of gluable end cap.
Color magic can cover the metal portion of the head pin- so that could explain the color.
swarovski bridal pins
If these are a specialty item I'd be really interested in finding them too-

It's definitely NOT a headpin. These are about 15 or so inches long. There is a Swarovski crystal or pearl at the ends, but these are added to it. I just have no idea what kind or gauge of wire they are. That's what I need to know. The wire has to be flexibile enough to bend, yet strong enough to stand up when needed.

There is some fairly standard green-wrapped wire available in the floral department of most craft stores. We don't stock it, so I'm not sure of the details other than I've seen it, and a
Beaded Rose Project
we made a long time ago calls for it.
I bet the first one will take a hair-pulling amount of time, but by the 5th stem, you'll be a pro.
(wow, I did a Google search for "crystal beaded bridal boquet" and I'm
amazed
that I got no relevent results in the first page! This might be a good niche to expand into. I'd love it if you post a pic when you get these done. I bet they'll be beautiful.)

Probably didnt get results because they are not "beaded" they are made with Swarovski Crystals. So if you search for Swarovski Crystal bouquets or bridal bouquets you will see what I'm talking about. They are on silver wire, the green wire wouldn't be the right stuff at all.

Looking at a lot of the Swarovski crystal, you should be able to use a 24 gauge wire. It looks like they frequently go through the bead and twist wrap the wire back to make a twisted, double wire 'stem'. This could be 24ga sterling silver[R&T#64-529], Argentium Sterling silver [R&T#64-820-24]or or an appropriate size in plated or coated base metal wire. With a price point of $579 for one of these bouquets [I just saw that on the web]. I am betting on the sterling wire forms.

These are probably one of the more interesting wedding items I've seen in a while.
It would seem to me that Argentium wire would be a better sterling to use though. Some bouquets are preserved with some sort of spray- Argentium is a non-tarnishing silver that won't be as effected as regular sterling or fine silver. Also- the half-hard is a little harder than fine silver.
Here is our
Wish List Form
in case you want to request that we add these (pre-made) to our product line.

I just came across this in a dogpile search. They use 24 ga sterling silver wire and crystals. Hope it's in time to help you. They really are beautiful and seem to be a very popular item. Wishing you lots of good luck.
