Dear danachit,

Now, that's what I call a question. Let me deduce:

If the finding is just a bail that doesn't look like a bail, maybe it's a fold-over glue-on bail. These can be seen on page 24 of our online catalog. Or maybe it's a bead cap, if the peridot happens not to actually be drilled. (Bead caps are on the page I just mentioned, too.)

If it is definitely not a bail (I didn't find the piece you mean in the online Sundance catalog, so I don't know), it's something else.

If it's something else, but looks like a bail, it could be a fancily designed, maybe handmade, jump ring.

If it's not that, it might be, um, a piece of wire that the artisan used to create a neat bail substitute.

It would be nice to see a picture of the item you're asking about. I suspect I'd have more ideas for you then!

I saw a cute peridot faceted top drilled suspended from this tiny fancy 'something or other' that was hanging from a silver chain. It was kinda like a bail but obviously something was going through the top of the stone. Any ideas on what this was? It was in the Sundance catalog.

Dana,

Thanks for emailing me the picture separately! That looks like a fancy, handmade bail. A very nice design, I might add...I'll bet we could sell thousands of 'em if we had any.
