The creator noted that the DNA sequence used for the bookmark is a DNA "stop" codon.

"Wire is criss-crossed through the letter beads to form the rungs of the ladder ... The finished product is anatomically correct. The large beads represent sugar molecules, the smaller beads represent phosphate molecules. The letter beads represent Adenine, Cytosene, Guanine and Thymine."
