With designer/instructor Mollie Valente Make your own leather bracelet, plus learn soft soldering and simple finishing techniques with our resident expert Mollie! In class, you'll capture an image between glass and encase it with a soldered metal frame. This charm will become the centerpiece for a finished bracelet you'll create by the end of class. Find out about various soft-solder tools and supplies, plus benefit from Mollie's demonstrations of each step before you try your hand at them. Attendees should bring the following tools with them to class: flat-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers. | ||

All basic soldering tools and materials will be provided, though we do suggest you bring safety goggles. We also provide graphic materials for creating your charm's image, but if you have a copy of a small pictorial memento you'd like encased in glass (up to 14mm circular), feel free to bring it! (Some images can be damaged by the heat of the soldering iron; we suggest bringing photocopies on cardstock instead of valuable family pictures — no thin paper or photo paper.)
Due to the intricate steps involved in the soldering process, students more than ten minutes late will not be admitted to class and tuition will be forfeited. |
