Working With 650 Overlay Paste

Next Class:
Saturday, September 15, 2007
9:30 am – 1:30 pm

With ACS master instructor Kurt Madison

Learn the secrets of Art Clay™ Silver 650 overlay paste! During this class, we'll get a project in the kiln then discuss more details and possibilities while the pieces are firing.

Kurt has experimented with this versatile form of metal clay since it first came out in 2003. It can be applied to glazed porcelain, ceramics and glass — as an accent or as a complete outer layer. It can also help repair low-fired items containing heat sensitive components such as glass or gemstones. Overlay paste is water soluble, compatible with the rest of the Art Clay Silver product line and fires from 1200° F to 1600° F.

Basic metal-clay tools are provided for this class, but if you have your own tools, bring them! Attendees should have some experience with metal clay prior to taking this class.

Kurt has taught for over 30 years, throughout the United States and in Scotland. He is one of only nine Art Clay Silver Master Instructors in the United States, and has won three Japanese honorable mentions for his work with metal clay. Don't miss this opportunity to work with Kurt, our resident metals expert!
