The Bead Museum's purpose is to collect and preserve, identify, document and display beads and ornaments used in personal adornment from ancient, ethnic and contemporary cultures, covering all periods of history. Its goals are to educate the public, promote and publish research in these areas and to act as a permanent repository for beads and ornaments and related books and publications.

Displays of adornments from all parts of the world are always on view. Special exhibits change periodically. The Bead Museum Store sells books on beads and jewelry and other pertinent objects. A Reference Library and Bead Study Collection are available by appointment. Membership is open to all upon payment of annual dues. Benefits include free subscription to the Bead Museum Quarterly, a 20% discount on books purchased form The Bead Museum Store, notices of changing exhibits and coming events, and of course, free visits to The Museum.
