Watermelon Cooler Bracelet Tutorial
Created by: Amy Mickelson
Punch two parallel holes in the hammered rings to create links. The hole size needs to be large enough to accommodate 2 jump rings. (Keep the existing hole, to add dangles.)
Connect the cosmic rings and hammered rings in a series. Use two 8mm round jump rings to attach each hammered link and each 20mm cosmic ring to the large-hole spacer beads. 2 jump rings provides extra security and gives the piece a chain maille look.
Add 8mm jump rings at each end and attach the toggle clasp. The overall length of this bracelet is 7.5". Depending on your wrist size, add additional jump rings or another hammered ring and large-hole spacer bead.
Create wrapped loop dangles with trade beads, crystal pearls and briolettes (rondelles), seed beads and bead caps. If you are new to making wrapped loops, you will get plenty of practice making these 54 dangles!
Sandwich the beads between two size 11 bronze color seeds. The bronze color helps tie in the crystal colors with the antiqued brass of the links and jump rings.
Add bead caps to 27 of the beads, placing half on the top and half on the bottom of the beads.
Use crimping pliers to round the wrapped head pins so they aren't scratchy. The concave shape helps pull the wire in close to the wrap without chipping the bead underneath.
Add the dangles to the bracelet. Add 4 dangles to a 6mm round jump ring. Each grouping should contain two dangles with bead caps. Repeat this so there are 12 sets. Attach one set to each “side” of the large-hole spacer bead.
Connect the remaining dangles, in groups of 3, to the remaining holes on the hammered rings.
Optional Technique: Create your own textured rings, using raw brass rings (#44-720-25). Create patterns with texture hammers or decorative stamps. Patina to match the other finishes.
