Space Travel Silver Tassel Necklace Tutorial
Created by: Sondra Barrington and Polly Nobbs-LaRue
Put a jump ring or piece of wire through the loop of the moon to see how it hangs (so your alien and UFO will stand upright rather than slanted after you stamp them).
Place moon blank on metal block. The rubber backing keeps it quieter and helps prevent bounce. Decide placement of stamps. Give one good whack with a 2lb brass hammer. See Metal Stamping Technique Sheet below for more detailed instructions on metal stamping.
If desired, accentuate image with Stamp Enamel. (See inset image. This was done after original necklace photo.)
Cut about 2" of wire, and make wire-wrapped or simple loops for the gray crazy lace oval bead. See detailed how-to in Jewelry Basics 101 (PDF).
Use 7-8mm jump rings to attach bead to both the chain and the tassel. Use a 5-6mm jump ring to attach moon to jump ring that connects bead to chain. (See Jewelry Basics 101 for best way to open and close jump rings.)
Cut chain to desired length. This necklace is best as a long necklace, long enough to slip over your head with no clasp so simply use a small jump ring from the assortment to close the ends of the chain.
