Sondra's Favorite Things
Sondra Barrington Jewelry Designer & Instructor
I oversee the Spokane Showroom, managing a small but mighty crew of talented jewelry designers who are excellent customer service representatives. Collectively, we coordinate jewelry making classes, test products and make jewelry designed to keep our customers inspired. We have fun sharing tips, teaching customers new techniques, and helping them with their design challenges.
I am prone to tangents when I create. I like to mix media, combine textures & layer color. I enjoy fabricating metal, creating molds and playing with resin + clay. I collect fabric, paper + beads (oh... so... many... beads!)
In my spare time, I like to go adventuring and travel. I refer to my kitchen as "the lab" (as I use it more frequently as an ad-hoc jewelry making studio than as an actual food preparation area. Coffeepot + Teakettle notwithstanding).
#69-613: The perfect torch! Use MAPP gas to enamel, change the fuel tank and use Propane Gas to anneal! Definitely use with the fuel tank holder (#69-614).
#88-801-25-0: This adorable Nina Designs bronze acorn charm is perfect for dangling from a gold bangle.
#43-392-3 8-Strand Silver Chain Tassel: I love cutting the chain links to be shorter - creating a tiny tassel!
#44-551 Sterling Silver Llama Charm: Words are not needed!
#61-460-20-32 20mm Nylon Tassel in Heather: The grayish plum color is a nice subtle accent to nearly everything!
#86-422-004: Use the verdigris patina by Vintaj to add a beautiful touch of color to your jewelry designs and mixed media creations.
69-199 Dapping Block & Punch Set
#34-572: Add a crystal to these sterling silver long kidney wires and you have stunningly simple earrings.
#51-720-012-316-0-S: I've been wearing the c'est la vie bangle daily! I have a few charms dangling from the bracelet, and I highlighted the phrasing with Cream Gilder's Paste (to really make the words pop against the brass).
#86-343: Win-Ox miracle oxidizer black colorant is a bench staple. It is a reliable, fast antiquing solution.
#05-328-04-928: Bohemian Rhapsody Swarovski Jams Assortment of 4mm bicone beads (actually I adore all of the jams!)
#45-210-001: Metal etching is fun, safe and addictive. It's amazing that simple metal blanks can transform into such beautiful jewelry components. If you haven't ever etched metal, it's time!
#59-500: This sterling silver flower button is also pretty as a pendant.
#63-255-34-04: These pink organza bags are perfect for packaging bridesmaid gifts, party favors and other small tokens. I try to keep a few different sized bags on-hand for last-minute gifting crises.
#86-381-006: This golden-silver paste is perfect for metal jewelry. It softens brassy looking findings, hi-lights oxidized pieces and adds a subtle, gentle color to harmonize mixed metal components. It's a must-have, all-purpose color that I frequently use.
#69-205-52 All of the Fretz Hammers, but this is amazing. You just can't beat a good chasing hammer!
#34-986: Wear alone as loops, or add a dangle. However you choose to do it, these secure earwires are amazing. I own all three styles (gold fill, sterling and argentium)!
#69-380: A strong, reliable tapered flush cutter that works well on heavier wire.
#63-528: I use these polishing pads almost daily to clean and shine metal. The pads last forever, are very convenient to use and provide a beautiful luster that is unparalleled when compared to other products of this type.
