These fire-polished glass beads are made in the Czech Republic, the centuries-old Bohemian center of bead production. Available in rondelles, rounds and teardrops, they offer a similar sparkle to crystal beads at a more affordable price. These faceted beads work perfectly for making antique-style jewelry, and for repairing or updating genuine vintage jewelry. They are created by pressing glass in a mold, then roughly faceting the formed bead. Finally, the bead's surface is slightly melted to "fire polish" it and give it increased luster. This process slightly rounds off the facets.
