Outback jasper beads show off striking linear patterns in shades of gray, pink, lavender, brown, and blue. This form of jasper has only very recently begun to be mined commercially, even though it was discovered several years ago. It comes from Western Australia near the former gold rush settlement of Payne's Find. The opaque semiprecious gemstone occurs as narrow seams within outcrops of banded chert. These matte outback jasper beads make a wonderfully unique addition to custom-made jewelry.
