Thread about 3 feet of beading thread, such as Fireline, onto a size 12 beading needle. A size 12 needle will go through the hole in the coin pearl.
String on the coin pearl and leave a 3-6” tail.
Take the thread around the edge of the coin pearl (right side of pearl), holding the thread against the edge and back through the hole by the tail. Repeat this again.
Do this two more times, this time taking the thread around the other edge of the pearl (left side of pearl.
These threads along the edge are the base for the first row of circular brick stitch.
Pick up a size 11 dark bronze bead.
Pass the needle and thread under two base threads on the edge of the pearl close to the hole.
You will need to hold the base rows against the bead edge with your finger to keep them in place.
Pull the thread tight and pass the needle up through the seed bead.
Add another size 11 bead and again pass the thread under the base threads (from back to front), pull thread tight and thread the needle up through the bead you just added.
Continue this process all the way around the pearl.
Once you have added the last bead, pass the thread down through the hole in the first size 11 bead added and then back up through the last bead added.
The next row proceeds in the same manner. Pick up a seed bead in a different color and pass the thread under the thread that connects the beads in the previous row. Pull the thread tight and pass the needle up through the hole in the bead.
As you continue around the bead you will see that newest row sits above and between the beads of the row below, like bricks.
You will periodically need to add an extra bead. To do this add a bead and thread the needle under the same loop as the previous bead.
Continue to add rows, using different colors and sizes in the TOHO Seed Bead Cocktails™ mix.
Make the earrings as large a diameter as you would like. This design has 5 rows of circular brick stitch.
To make the decorative edging row, add a size 8 seed bead (matte lime green bead) and a size 11 seed bead to the thread. Pull the beads against the previous row. Pass the thread back through the size 8 bead you just added, and down through through the bead of the previous row next to the one.
Add a loop of 6 size 11 seed beads in a space between two decorative edge beads. Attach your earwire to this loop.
