Rate Comparison Chart

  • No hidden fees:   Rings & Things charges only what the carrier charges to deliver your package!
  • Prepaid orders should include estimated shipping. Shipping charges vary from $5 to $8 on an "average" $50 to $100 order by UPS ground. Charges are proportionately higher for larger orders, heavier goods, or when requesting special shipping methods. For small orders ($25 - $50), including sample orders, there is also a $4 handling fee in addition to shipping charges.
  • Processing time:   Most times of year, orders leave us one weekday after you place your order. However, during the busiest seasons (May/June and October/November), it may take 3 to 4 days for orders to get processed – that is, 3 to 4 days before your order leaves our hands.
  • Shipping time will depend on both the shipping method you choose and how far away from Washington State you live. If you live on the East Coast, UPS allows as many as 8 weekdays to get a package from us to you (it rarely takes longer than that, except shortly before Christmas). Remember to only count weekdays; UPS packages move very little over the weekend.

FedEx – Federal Express

FedEx Guaranteed Delivery Service

  • Rings and Things offers the following FedEx guaranteed delivery options:
    • Express Saver – arrives on the third day by 4:30 pm to most commercial areas, and by 7:00 pm to residential areas
    • Two Day – arrives on the second day by 4:30 pm to most commercial areas, and by 7:00 pm to residential areas
    • Standard Overnight – arrives on the next day by 3:00 pm to most commercial areas.
    • Priority Overnight – arrives on the next day by 10:30 am to most commercial areas; delivery to Alaska and Hawaii might take longer.

    These services cost more, because they are guaranteed and the package is sometimes shipped via air.
FedEx Service Guarantee Exceptions
  • FedEx's service guarantee does not apply to FedEx Ground® or FedEx Home Delivery® shipments picked up or scheduled to be delivered between approximately Dec. 11 and Dec. 24.
FedEx Tracking
  • All FedEx packages have tracking numbers that you can track online.
FedEx Signature requirements

  • FedEx requires a signature, although …
  • A customer can obtain a no signature required (signature on file) card from FedEx office, or driver.  Once this card is on file, FedEx will always leave the package.

UPS – United Parcel Service

Ground delivery to a residence is guaranteed in terms of arrival date.
Ground delivery service may take up to two weeks (8-10 business days) coast to coast to a residential address.
The latest UPS will deliver a package is 4:30 pm in commercial areas and 6:30 pm in residential areas.

UPS Guaranteed Delivery Services

  • Rings and Things offers the following UPS guaranteed delivery options; please note that delivery to Alaska and Hawaii might take longer than the times listed below:
    • Three-Day Select – to both residential and commercial addresses
    • Second Day Air – to both residential and commercial addresses
    • Next Day Air – to both residential and commercial addresses
    • Ground to a commercial address (see map for estimated delivery times)

    These services cost more, because they are guaranteed and the package is sometimes shipped via air.
UPS Service Guarantee Exceptions
  • UPS's service guarantee does not apply to commercial and residential ground shipments picked up or scheduled to be delivered between approximately Dec. 11 and Dec. 24.
  • UPS's Service Guarantee also does not apply to UPS Standard shipments to Canada picked up or scheduled to be delivered between approximately Dec. 11 and Dec. 24.
  • Except for UPS Early am and UPS Worldwide Express Plus, the on-schedule delivery guarantee for air and international service shipments delivered within the United States will be extended by 90 minutes both the day after Thanksgiving Day and on December 19 through December 24.
UPS Tracking
  • All UPS packages have tracking numbers that you can track online.
UPS Signature requirements
  • Signature required for all packages delivered to a commercial address
  • Customer can request no signature required for residential delivery.  UPS will generally leave packages anyway if no one is home. BUT this is dependent on the driver.
  • Customer can request Adult Signature Required for an additional $3.50
  • Customer can request Signature Required on residential deliveries for an additional $2.50
UPS Other Information
  • If UPS is not able to successfully deliver a package to the given address, they charge $10 to redirect the package to a different address.
  • For heavy (e.g. polymer clay, large quantities of castings or plastic bags) or oversized (e.g. displays, stringing boards) orders, add an extra $0.20 per estimated pound.
  • UPS drivers define residential addresses (usually as a place where people live….If you work from home, it is residential. Residential rates are approx. $2.00 more.  UPS defines it — not us.
  • UPS is self insured for first $100 of order, then the rate is $0.60 per $100 value, with a minimum charge of $1.80. We insure all packages.  It is our policy.
  • UPS will not deliver to a P.O. Box — it must be a "physical" address.
  • Saturday delivery available — for an extra $12.50 — this is available for next day air, and second-day delivery to some addresses.
  • UPS defines some areas as remote residential zones and adds a $2.30 charge for delivery. They also define some areas as remote commercial zones and charge an additional $1.50 for delivery.  This is their call — not ours.
  • To find out delivery time of day, or other information, check the phone book for your local UPS office's customer information line. Their national number is 1-800-PickUPS.

USPS – United States Postal Service

USPS Guaranteed Services

  • The Post Office guarantees Express Mail to arrive in 1-2 days. However, because our packages arrive at the post office later than their daily cut-off time, actual delivery time will be 2-3 days from when we ship your order.
Other USPS Delivery Services
  • Priority is not guaranteed — the Post Office says two to three days anywhere in the country.
  • First Class is not guaranteed.
USPS Tracking
  • No tracking numbers for Priority or first class
  • Tracking numbers for Express mail
USPS Signature requirements
  • Signatures are required for Priority packages valued at $500 or more, and for Express mail shipments (no fee).
  • "Signature confirmation" is available for First Class and Priority mail of any value – this service costs an additional $2.20.
USPS Other Information
  • Driver decides whether to leave package, if it fits in box, etc
  • Insurance rate based on $$ amount of items in the order.
  • Post Office moves packages over the weekends.
  • Post Office delivers on Saturdays
  • Delivery confirmation costs $0.75 for First Class Mail and $0.65 for Priority Mail. This service allows you to look online and see when a package was delivered … it's not a tracking system (it's more helpful for the package sender than the recipient).
  • We insure all packages.  It is our policy.
  • We cannot put a claim in on a package with the Post Office until 30 days after it was shipped.
